Mike White is a self-taught visual artist balancing his full time employment in construction with a more right brain focus by painting in his spare time.
Having grown up in a creative family, his Dad (the late Lindsay White) an art teacher, Mike has always had an interest in art. But it was only when he was made redundant in 2014 that Mike pursued art with a fresh passion – painting his first portraits and street scenes inspired by time volunteering in Africa.
Mike and his wife Melissa recently relocated from the Sunshine Coast to the Samford valley to be a part of a creative community.
Mike uses colour and contrast to express the vibrancy and diversity of life across many cultures. His art is influenced by his love of Fauvism – the works of the masters Andre Derain, Matisse and Vlaminck.
