Colourful Artworks to Warm the Heart

The Dayboro Grapevine – Dayboro Art Gallery – July Edition

This month’s Grapevine article is also throwing the spotlight on a few of our gallery artists – Katherine Moore, Lesley Gibbons and Jeanette Hides have artworks displayed on the front wall at the entrance to the gallery. Katherine Moore prefers an instinctive unplanned approach to creating her art works. Her style has been described as ‘bold’, ‘colourful’, ‘rustic’ and ‘rhythmic’. Lesley Gibbons loves to infuse a sense of light-heartedness into her artworks by capturing the inquisitive nature and personality of the characters in her art. Jeanette Hides’ favourite materials for creating her artworks are acrylics, pencils inks, gilding and enamel paint.

Michelle Newby’s latest creation is a must to see! Venture in and read what inspired her latest artwork. “Ultimately, art’s power lies in its ability to connect with viewers on an emotional level, creating a range of feelings and experiences” (unknown author). Vincent Van Gough stated, “I want to touch people with my art.” Another artist, Trudy Brooks, is known for her soft water colour paintings but is also making a name for herself in the art scene with her amazing digital art creations which are currently exhibited at the gallery.

The Dayboro Gallery recently participated in the Creative Samford Art Trails. Some of the gallery’s artists also participated in these Trails, including Christa Coetze, Danielle Latta, and Trudy Brooks. This additional exposure weaving into the fabric of the rural community art scene and opening up appreciation and commentary around the artworks and artists.

The gallery is an intricate part of the Dayboro community. This is a not-for-profit gallery run by the artists and the members contribute to creating a harmonious and creative space. The gallery is situated on Williams Street in the main heart of Dayboro. Accessibility is available via the ramp leading up to the deck of the Gallery which overlooks Terrors Creek. The gallery is opened 7 days a week from 10am to 3pm. Come in out of the winter chill and soak up the ambience of the gallery. We also have unframed artworks for those travelling. Meet the artist on duty, or just have quiet ‘me’ time exploring the gallery. Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dayboroartgallery/
