Midge (Wendy Shelmerdine) paints under the name Midge, an affectionate nickname given to her by her family. Midge lives in Ocean View, a rural area on the picturesque Mount Mee range. The views from the range feature predominantly in her representational landscapes.

Midge studied oil painting with Brisbane artist Ziya Eris. Ziya’s generous tutelage and encouragement gave her the confidence to pursue and develop her artistic skills through different mediums. She loves the control that oils allow her, but is captivated by the way watercolour takes charge and leads her into the abstract.
